Research & Development

Research and development applied to our health protection work is a core component of service within the Health Protection Agency. To facilitate R&D work, a North West R&D group was set up in 2004 (click here for terms of reference) with representatives of Regional Epidemiology, local Health Protection Units, the Regional Laboratory, Environmental Health and Health Emergency Planning. Academic colleagues have also joined the group.

Research & Development capacity

In 2004, an R&D questionnaire was circulated amongst colleagues in Regional Epidemiology and local Health Protection Units to assess the level of enthusiasm and capability for R&D in the North West. Following on from this in January 2005, we organised an R&D Training Day to address some of the issues raised. Work goes on to develop capacity for R&D within the region.
